Schools have started and soon rehearsals will start for the Conway Men’s Chorus 17th Christmas Holiday Concert. All men interested in singing and fellowshipping with others are invited to be part of this exciting group as a returning member or new member. Rehearsals begin for the Fall season on Monday, Sept. 8, at Woodland Heights Baptist Church on Prince Street at Hogan Lane.

Rehearsals are designed for busy men, as they meet in the choir room for about an hour beginning at 6 p.m. each Monday.

The Conway Men’s Chorus has been performing since 1998, and Reynolds Performance Hall on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas has become the favorite venue. Sam Husky, director of Choral Music with the Conway Public Schools, continues as the Music Director of the Men’s Chorus, and he will be introducing new and proven concert pieces as Paul Bradley is piano accompanist. Assisting Mr. Huskey as Assistant Music Directors are Dustin Summey and Dr. Greg Murry.

Some of the pieces the men will be working on for their upcoming concert scheduled for Dec. 9 include "Kings Processional," by Debra Morton, "On This Very Christmas Night," by TransSiberian Orchestra, "Auld Lang Syne," "The First Noel," by Deke Sharon, "Let Christmas Come / I’ll Be Home for Christmas," "Rise Up Shepherd," and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." In addition to these and other songs of the season will be the traditional audience sing-along and special guest performers.

Men of all levels of musical ability are invited to become a part of the chorus as they prepare to present free of charge their 17th Christmas Holiday Concert as their gift of music to the community. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Reynolds Performance Hall on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas. According to Chorus President Mike McCullars, "The Men’s Chorus is an important part of the lives of these men as they celebrate music while also enjoy being together. But we always have room for one more."
