An oboe quartet from the Conway Symphony Orchestra played a brief interlude for employees of Southwestern Energy on Wednesday afternoon in appreciation of the company’s sponsorship of the symphony’s first concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Simon Park in Downtown Conway.

The event is also the kick-off of the Fifth Annual ArtsFest.

This year’s ArtsFest has grown in number of events and days spanning two weekends.

For a complete listing of events, see Go&Do, page 1B, in Thursday's Log Cabin Democrat.

Members of the quartet are, from left, Andreas Oeste, oboe; William Shipley, violin; Anna Bass, viola; and Eric Tillman, cello. The ensemble played Oboe Quartets by Mozart and Dotzauer.

Friday night’s concert will feature Beethoven’s First Symphony and "Winter" from The Seasons by Vivaldi’s. Darby Bedell will be featured violin soloist, and Israel Getzov will conduct.

In case of rain, the concert will move to UCA’s Snow Fine Arts Recital Hall.
