A group from Chi Alpha Campus Ministry at the University of Central Arkansas plans a 5k run-walk starting at the Intramural Fields at 8 a.m. Saturday to raise money to help children in Africa afford clothes, shoes, food and other necessities, according to a news release.

The Run for One 5k Run-Walk will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, and a 1 mile walk for families will begin after that. Registration is required.

The 5k is a first for the ministry. All proceeds from the 5K will benefit children in Africa. The ministry goes to Africa every year, so it’s to a place the group has seen.

The run supports The Backs of Africa, an organization students started about three years ago to send money to Africa, according to the group’s website. A Fall Festival will also be held the same day from 9-4 p.m.
