Students in area schools participated in a contest to decorate recycling bins for Toad Suck Daze, sponsored by City of Conway Recycling Department and Faulkner County Solid Waste. The two winning classes earned a pizza party and T-shirts. They were, K-2nd grade, Courtney Williams’ Class from Greenbrier Eastside Elementary (Oscar the Grouch). and 3rd through 5th grade winner was Stephanie Darnell’s Class from Carl Stuart Middle School (the basketball goal).

Becky Thornton, an art teacher from Carl Stuart said of the contest: "It was such a good learning experience for the students. Students made idea sketches and presented their proposals to the class. Then the class discussed the different ideas and the possible effect their ideas would have on Toad Suck Daze guests and voters. Then students chose a winning design and executed it in groups. This community activity was a great cooperative learning extension of drawing, painting, three-dimensional application, persuasive speaking and the voting process. Thanks for this great opportunity."
