At their regular meeting Tuesday night, Conway City Council approved the rezoning and conditional use permit for 2725 College Avenue.
Property owner Kids Play Properties plans to put in an indoor kids clubhouse, coffee shop and small animal vet clinic at the property.
The two requests came before planning commission earlier this month. The commission recommended council approve both the rezoning and the conditional use permit.
Before the vote Tuesday night, a representative for the property owner asked if they would be allowed to have a small sound system for background noise at the coffee shop. They also requested that the vets office could stay open until 6 p.m. instead of the earlier time recommended by the planning commission.
The mayor and city council honored both requests and unanimously voted for the approval of the rezoning and conditional use permit.
Mayor Tab Townsell and several aldermen said they are excited about having a coffee shop near the Tucker Creek Trail.
“I love the concept of having a coffee shop right there by the trail,” Townsell said. “It’s a really neat addition to the sense of place in Conway.”
The hours of operation will be between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the veterinary clinic, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the children’s clubhouse and 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the coffee shop.
