Blackbird Academy of Arts in Conway is offering two free field trip opportunities that will provide cultural and educational experiences for K-12 students in the Central Arkansas region in early 2018.
Peter Pan, the Ballet, will be presented at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018, Reynolds Performance Hall, University of Central Arkansas. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Play, will be presented at 1 p.m., on Friday, March 9, 2018, at Antioch Baptist Church, Conway.
There is no charge, but reservations must be made by contacting Ann Turney, 501.472.7303 or email@example.com as soon possible to assure availability of the show (before the Christmas holidays is recommended).
In the weeks leading up to the shows, we will provide teaching tools for participating teachers that will include educational material about ballet and theatre productions, as well as classroom activity guides that relate the stories to state literacy standards.
Both shows are appropriate for all ages. Schools will need to provide their own transportation. Peter Pan Ballet is approximately 1.75- 2 hours. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the Play is approximately 1.5 hours. Support performers who are from this area, and help us promote the arts in our community!
As the mischievous Peter Pan shows Wendy, Michael and John the wonderful world of Neverland, he also must keep them safe from the dangerous and deplorable Captain Hook. You don’t want to miss the adventure, elegance and fantasy of this classic story told through ballet. The ballet is based on the novel by Scottish novelist and playwright J.M. Barrie.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Five kids find golden tickets and are granted access to the wonderful wacky world of Willy Wonka. One by one, each kid shows their true colors and is dealt with accordingly. When Charlie is the only kid left he finds out he is getting a lot more than just chocolate! The play is based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a 1964 children’s novel by British author Roald Dahl.
