Faulkner County Circuit Judge Troy B. Braswell swore in Conway resident Amy Ferdowsian who was confirmed as the new Conway School Board member Sept. 19.

According to results from the Faulkner County Clerk, Ferdowsian won the public’s vote with 53 percent of the votes — 102 out of 194 — 10 more than her opponent Ron Hill during the annual school board election Sept. 12-19.

Ferdowsian said It was nice to have the swearing in to make it official.

"I appreciated [Judge Braswell] taking the time to do it for me," she said

The Log Cabin Democrat reached out to Ferdowsian, who found out she had won via text message around 8:30 p.m. election night, after the event.

The newly elected board member previously stated that she was happy and "very excited" when she was told, said she was eager to serve the Conway School District and overall ready to get to that first official meeting.

"Thank you to all my supporters," she previously told the LCD.

Ferdowsian will begin her term during the board’s regular meeting at 6 pm. Oct. 10 at the Conway Public Schools Administration Building at 2220 Prince St.

"I look forward to getting to know the other School Board members better and to learn more about the details of being on the School Board," she said.
