Amid the swirl of events of ArtsFest 2009, the Conway League of Arists held their opening reception Thursday and announced 30 cash awards for excellence in painting, photography and sculpture/ 3-D. One of the highlights of the show, which is in its 24th year, is the Beauty in Nature award, perpetuated by the family of Jackie Guerin and the Conway League of Artists.

During her lifetime, CLA member Guerin painted all over the Natural State, expressing and promoting the beauty of Arkansas.

Coe Wilson won the Jackie Guerin award for her painting titled "Geese", while Katie Keck won Best in Show for her painting of the "Piazza San Marco". Twenty-eight other awards were handed out for works in the categories Landscape, Still Life, Floral Portraits, Wildlife and Animals, Contemporary, 3-D and photography.

Thirty-eight artists were represented at this 24th annual show. The judge, Robert Snider of North Little Rock, is president of Mid-Southern Watercolorists. 105 pieces of work are included in the exhibit, which will remain on display at the Faulkner County Library until Oct. 24.
