Curtis B. Southwick Col. USMC (ret). 64, of Stafford, Va., passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 at Bethesda Naval Hospital.

Col. Southwick served as a pilot in the United States Marine Corp. 

He was also commanding officer of HT-18 in Pensacola, Fla., as well as Director of the first Marine Corp War College.

Now a teacher at A.G. Wright Middle School in Stafford, he was named Teacher of the Year.

Survivors include his parents, Alton and Elizabeth Southwick of Centerville, Pa., his wife Karlyn Kehoe Southwick of Stafford, two sons, Zachary of Stafford and Kris and his wife, Alicia of Herndon, Va. two grandchildren, Clayton James and Emory Paige, one brother, Kris Robert Southwick, of Pennslyvania and one sister, Renee Elizabeth Southwick of Whitson, Mass.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home Stafford Chapel, 186 Shelton Shop Rd. Stafford, Va. 22554. 

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Va.
