Sue Ann Van Winkle
Sue Ann Van Winkle, 70, passed on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at the Elkhart General Hospital.
Born on Feb. 4, 1939, in Goshen, Ind., to the late Mr. George Cole and the late Mrs. Virginia Cole (Sayles).
She married her husband, Thomas J. Van Winkle, on Oct. 1, 1977, in Elkhart, Ind.
Sue Ann was a professional waitress working more than 20 years at Gropp’s Family Restaurant in Elkhart.
She formerly worked at Callahan’s, The Coffee Cup, Windmill and The Diner, which was in Goshen.
After Sue Ann retired she worked in the sporting goods department at Wal-Mart for four years.
She attended Goshen High School and was a member of the Women of the Moose in Elkhart, but above all Sue Ann loved to play bingo and shop at her favorite stores.
Her parents and a brother, Phil Wilfret, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Tom J. Van Winkle of Elkhart; son, Rick (Melissa) Baney of Conway; daughter, Tammy Evans of Elkhart; three grandchildren, Taylor, Alexander and Emily Baney, all of Conway; sisters, Nancy Harris of Elkhart and Vicki (Bobby) Briggs of Middlebury, Ind.; and niece and caregiver, Debbie Harris of Elkhart.
Friends and family may call for one hour prior to the 2 p.m. Sunday funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, located at 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.
A cremation is to follow services with entombment at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart at a later day.
