MAYFLOWER — Mayflower’s offense was clicking on all cylinders Friday in the Eagles’ 67-50 victory over England on Senior Night.
The Eagles’ quarterback Jordan Dycus had a big night through the air, and running back Demetris Lasker was hard to stop for the Lions.
"The O-line did a great job of blocking," Mayflower coach Jed Davis said. "They stayed in man all night, and it was like taking candy from a baby. Dycus threw the ball well and our receivers did a nice job of running routes and catching the ball. It was a fun night, offensively."
Dycus hit Wesley Varnell on a 30-yard touchdown pass for Mayflower’s first score in the first quarter. Then, Dycus connected with Lasker on a 46-yard pass play, which gave the Eagles the lead for good in the second quarter.
Dycus tossed another touchdown pass to Chris Crosson from 12 yards out and Lasker scored on the two-point conversion attempt. Lasker scored again on a 3-yard run before the half and Dycus ran in the two-point conversion attempt.
Dycus tacked on a 15-yard touchdown run and then he found Lane Mabry in the end zone on an 8-yard pass play.
Lasker scored his second rushing touchdown of the night in the third quarter on a 20-yard run. Lasker then followed that with a 13-yard touchdown run. Dycus and Taylor Mathis ran in the final two touchdowns. Both were good from 2 yards out.
The Eagles will close the regular season next week at Episcopal Collegiate in Little Rock.
