Heaven’s Gates opened wide as the angels welcomed our mother Dolly (Palmer) Ross, 92, of Conway home on Saturday Feb. 13, 2010. Dolly was born in Enola on Aug. 4, 1917 to the late Jim and Dorotha (Hoggard) Palmer. Dolly was the wife of the late Thomas Earl Ross for 41 years.
Six sisters — Dorothy Estep, Marie Glover, Edith Mobbs, Alva Brown, Jessie Smith and Faye Callahan — and one brother, Paul Palmer, preceded Dolly in death.
Dolly was a faithful servant of the Lord and an active member of Second Baptist Church for more than 57 years. She taught Sunday school at Salem Nursing Home for 38 years.
She is survived by one son, James E. Ross (Paulette) and two daughters, Sandra Bickerton (Harry) and Susan Sidebottom (Rick); seven grandchildren, Gaylon Ross (Kristie), Jeannie Ratliff (Kyle), Janise Ross, Rebecca Smith (David), Jennifer Castleberry (Greg), Zachary Sidebottom and Amanda Condry (Robin); nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Dolly’s love for her family and friends were evident in her everyday life.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church in Conway, with Bro. Mark Dance and Bro. Larry Pillow officiating. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park with David Smith, Greg Castleberry, Gaylon Ross, Kyle Ratliff, Zachary Sidebottom, Robin Condry, Ronnie Jones, Denny Brown and Keith Bell serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church building fund.
