Muskogee, Okla. — Aftter cancelling a weekend home series with Arkansas-Pine Bluff and William Woods because of snow, the Central Baptist College softball team went to Oklahoma for a sweep Saturday.

The Lady Mustangs defeated Bacone College, the defending Red River Athletic Conference champions, 9-1 and 14-1.

In the first game, freshman Christen Kirchner led off the year with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. The Lady Mustangs followed with six more runs in the inning. 

The Lady Mustangs scored nine runs on 12 hits. Cassie Martin was 3-for-4 with three RBI and also homered. Kirchner was also 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Hailey King added two hits.

Jessica Bock got the win by pitching five innings and allowing only three hits and one run while striking out eight Bacone batters. Meagan Youngblood worked a perfect sixth to finish off the run rule.

In the second game, the Lady Mustangs scored 14 runs on 18 hits as they only needed the five-inning minimum to complete the sweep. Kirchner was 3-for-4 with three RBI and hit another home run. Martin was 3-for-3, while Kayla Lucas, King and Carly McLennan each had two hits.  

Casey Hammons cruised to victory by pitching five innings allowing only one run on two hits and striking out 10.

The Lady Mustangs are back in action at 1 p.m. today at City of Colleges Park in Conway against Christian Brothers University for another doubleheader.
