BIGELOW — St. Joseph's junior boys are celebrating one of the best seasons in school history and a district title.
The St. Joseph’s junior boys won the 5-2A North district title Tuesday night with a 38-27 victory over Quitman.
The Bulldogs finished the season at 22-1.
“I was very proud of the guys’ effort tonight, particularly on the defensive end,” St. Joseph coach Brent Bruich said. “We didn’t shoot the ball particularly well but our offensive rebounding and defense won the game for us.
“It was a great season. It was a privilege to coach these young men. They came to practice each day ready to work and get better.”
In the title game, Andrew Beck led the Bulldogs with 13 points. Andrew Kordsmeier had 10 points and 10 rebounds. Cole Schichtl had 10 points. Josh Antoine had six rebounds. Drew Bates had three steals and Landon Enderlin three assists.
In the girls title game, Bigelow downed St. Joseph, 41-8.
Meagan Briggler had five points and six rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs, who finished 16-7. Rachell Ross added six rebounds.
“I was proud of the girls; Bigelow has a fine team,” St. Joseph coach Chris Kordsmeier said. “We had a good season.”
