HOT SPRINGS (AP) — A grenade found at a closed Hot Springs car wash near Oaklawn Park has been destroyed.
Magic Spray Car Wash owner Bill Baswell says a man brought him the grenade Tuesday and said he had found it in a stall Monday night. Baswell says he told the man to put it back where he found it while he called police.
Bomb technicians from the Arkansas State Police and the FBI removed the grenade and took it to the Hot Springs Police Department firing range where it was destroyed.
Police Cpl. McCrary Means says the grenade appeared to be from the Vietnam era and had some corrosion. He says it wasn't known if it was live.
Police are still looking for the person who left the grenade.
