John Edward Harlan, 78, of Conway passed away peacefully from this life into the arms of God on Sunday (March 7, 2010). He was a member of Highway 65 Church of Christ. He was born Nov. 7, 1931 in Little Rock to the late Bassie and Hattie Harlan. 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Nell Harlan and son Michael Edward Harlan. He is survived by his daughter Julie Kemper and husband Bruce of Conway; his son Jackie Harlan and wife Roxy of Morrilton; five grandchildren, Amy Kersey, Misty Johnson and husband Bradley, Kristy Hanson, Nathen Kemper and wife Marcie, and Jeffrey Kemper. He is also proudly survived by his eight great-grandbabies; Tyler, Sarah and Matthew Kersey, Megan, Madilyn and Brady Johnson, and Cade and Luke Hanson. 

John enjoyed camping, bluegrass festivals, gardening, quail and deer hunting and small engine repair. He was an employee of Wonder Bakery for 30 years. He was a faithful servant to God and a wonderful witness to all. John always had a loving smile on his face. Most of all, he was a caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is already greatly missed by his dearest family and friends. 

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock. 

Pallbearers are Nathen Kemper, Jeffrey Kemper, Bradley Johnson, Zach Bright, Steve Ray and Stanley Ray.
