The Arkansas Federation of College Republicans have selected Republican U.S. Senate candidate Curtis Coleman as their top choice in Arkansas' U.S. Senate race. The federation conducted the straw poll at its annual convention in Little Rock on Saturday.
Coleman won 31 percent of the vote among a field of eight Senate candidates. State Sen. Gilbert Baker was second and U.S. Rep. John Boozman was in third place in the vote totals.
The win for Coleman, cofounder and former president and CEO of Safe Foods Corp., was his third win out of four U.S. Senate straw polls held by Arkansas Republicans. Coleman won the GOP’s fourth district (South Arkansas) straw poll last fall, a GOP leadership conference straw poll in Northwest Arkansas in January and the College Republicans’ straw poll Saturday. He narrowly missed winning a fourth straw poll held by the Republican Party of Arkansas in Hot Springs in December.
