The St. Joseph baseball team dropped its season opener Monday 7-5 to Bauxite.

The Bulldogs had six hits  but couldn’t get any runs in the extra frame, while the Miners broke a 5-5 tie with a pair of runs.

Wade Beck, who also struck out five in three innings of work on the mound, led St. Joseph with a 2-for-3 performance and drove in two RBI.

Andrew Beck, who struck out four in three innings of work, drove in a run, and Marcus Kordsmeier scored twice.

St. Joseph will play at Greers Ferry Westside on Friday.
