E.G. Bishop, 73, of Oklahoma City passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 in Port Charlotte, Fla., after a three-month courageous battle with cancer. He was a beloved son of the late Ben and Gratis Bishop of Salem.
He is survived by two sons, Dr. E.G. "Bo" Bishop and wife, Christy, of Port Charlotte, Shane Bishop ad wife, Lorrie, of Orlando; one daughter, Brett Bishop of Greeley, Colo.; five grandchildren, Noelle, Aaron, Brooke, Jessica and Josh; one brother, Val Bishop and wife, Roberta, of Mammoth Springs; three sisters, Wilma Cochran of Kenosha, Wis., Ruth Montgomery, of Wiseman, Ark., Corean Shrable and husband Max Ray of Gepp, Ark., and by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Bishop, Ray Bishop and Marvin Bishop; and one sister, Wanda Bishop.
He graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College, now the University of Central Arkansas.
He was on the ASTC basketball team. E.G. was a member of the Arkansas National Guard and retired from the Horse Racing Circuit in Oklahoma City.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed life to its fullest.
His radiant blue eyes and contagious laugh will be greatly missed, but he will always live in our hearts.
Just recently he had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, and that day lives on for all eternity.
His family would like to thank everyone for their love, prayers and support over these last three difficult months. E.G.’s cremation will be in Port Charlotte.
