The accolades keep coming for Conway’s Preston Purifoy.
After helping the Wampus Cats win the Class 7A state championship, Purifoy was named the 2009-10 Gatorade Arkansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Purifoy, who has signed to play at Alabama-Birmingham next season, is now a finalist for the national award to be announced later this month.
Purifoy earned his third straight all-state honor this season after averaging 15.8 points and five rebounds per game. He scored 25 points and grabbed seven boards in the Cats’ win over Fayetteville in the state finals.
Purifoy has maintained a 3.4 grade point average in the classroom, as well as being an active member of his church and volunteered on behalf of environmental initatives.
