MAYFLOWER — The St. Joseph baseball team reached the finals of the Mayflower Invitational with a pair of wins.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs defeated Ashdown 16-5, while the Bulldogs held off Glen Rose 6-4 on Friday. With those victories, St. Joseph (3-2) was to play in Saturday’s championship game.

Wade Beck earned the pitching win in Thursday’s contest, striking out eight in six innings of work. He was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of RBI. Andrew Beck finished 2-for-3 and scored three runs.

Nathan Elsinger dove in three RBI and scored twice on a 2-for-5 day, while Cole Breeding finished 1-for-1 with two RBI and walked three times and scored three runs.

Against Glen Rose, a four-run fourth inning helped the Bulldogs claim the win.

Andrew Beck struck out seven in a six-inning performance before Matt Lowe came on for the save in the seventh.

Wade Beck was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored, while Lowe drove in an RBI and scored twice during his 2-for-4 day. Chris Rega was 1-for-2 with to RBI and a pair of walks. Breeding finished 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI.

St. Joseph banged out 10 hits in all. Glen Rose finished with nine.
