A certificate of indebtedness was filed by the State of Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration against Cody and Jana Hiland on March 31 in Faulkner County Circuit Court.

According to court documents, Hiland is indebted to the state for income tax in the amount of $724.90. The circuit clerk’s office confirmed that a release on the lien had not been filed as of 11 a.m. Thursday.

Hiland is a candidate for the office of 20th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney.

Hiland, an attorney in Conway, said the matter was being taken care of.

“It was just a miscommunication with the DFA,” Hiland said. “They sent two notices to an old P.O. Box in Greenbrier. We’ll get a check in the mail (Thursday) or (today).

“It’s not like we didn’t file. It was just a mix-up,” Hiland said. “We’re getting it corrected.”
