Olga Claire Rokoszak, 77, of Conway, passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010.
She was born April 25, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Frederick Govia and Anna Erlacher Govia.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Henry Rokoszak; three sons, Robert Rokoszak and wife Susan of Lake Stockholm, N.J., William Rokoszak of Greenwook Lake, N.Y., and Rich Rokoszak of Conway; one daughter, Peggy Becker and husband Marty of Conway; nine grandchildren, Beth Tyler and husband Clint, Bobby Becker, Alyssa Becker, Megan Rokoszak, Sandy Rokoszak, Jessica Rokoszak, Troy Green, Samantha Rokoszak, Kristin Green-Igielski and husband Sebostian; and one great-grandson, Brody Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Olga was most comfortable serving others at her cloth covered kitchen table.
Her home was a comfortable gathering place for anyone who knew her.
She would listen to every word spoken with genuine interest.
The grandchildren and even friends of grandchildren brought her their news, troubles, stories and jokes.
Family holiday meals were her specialty.
Though she claimed not to be a great hostess, she always welcomed visitors and reveled in the company of others.
Olga’s hands were evidence of the perfect wife, mother and grandmother.
Though her hands were toughened by hard work, those hands could prepare the perfect cup of tea at any hour of the day or evening for family, friend or stranger.
She spent her life providing for her family.
Despite her big city, Brooklyn roots, she never lost her gentle touch.
Olga’s life’s work, to love and care for her family, was realized in the details.
She had a magical touch in the kitchen — especially appreciated in her peanut butter cookies, chicken nuggets and special bar-b-que sauce recipe.
The children and grandchildren will pass on Olga’s recipes and tell of her life and love for years to come.
There will be a Rosary at 5 p.m. Friday, immediately followed by a memorial service in the chapel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway.
Arrangements by Roller-McNutt Conway.
