LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — President Barack Obama's controversial former pastor says that people who falsely believe the president is Muslim are the "enemy" and "psychopaths."
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright made the comments Sunday at a sermon at a south Little Rock church led by former state Appeals Court Judge Wendell Griffen. Griffen, who won an election for a judgeship in Pulaski County in May, said he invited Wright to speak as part of a monthlong focus on faith and the community.
Wright made only one reference to Obama during his speech. He tied those who think Obama is a Muslim to critics of Griffen for speaking out on political issues when he was an appeals judge.
Obama cut ties with Wright during the 2008 presidential campaign over his incendiary remarks. Griffen lost re-election to the state appeals court in 2008.
