Central Baptist College has released its men’s and women’s basketball schedules for the 2010-2011 seasons, their first as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

To begin the season, under coach Josh Austin, the Mustangs will have three home games against NAIA Division I teams in Williams Baptist, Lyon College, and John Brown University. JBU finished last season in the Elite 8.

The schedule also includes a pair of NCAA Division I teams in Northwestern State and Arkansas State University for exhibition matchups.

"We have some challenging games against very well-coached teams early," Austin said. "

These games will certainly prepare us for postseason play in the NAIA. We welcome the challenge and look forward to the opportunity it presents."

The Lady Mustangs, under coach Lyle Middleton, begin their season on the road against Oklahoma Wesleyan then travel to Muskogee, Okla., to compete in the Bacone Classic. 

The team returns home for the first game at Reddin Fieldhouse on Nov. 20 against University of the Ozarks.  

The schedule also includes a crosstown trip to take on the UCA Sugar Bears on Dec. 6.

"We are very excited about this upcoming season," coach Lyle Middleton said.  

"We have some very challenging games, but we expect to do great things this year. We have a good core returning. This should be an exciting year!"

The Lady Mustangs will finish the regular-season slate with a road trip to Batesville to take on Lyon College, while the men will end with a home game. against Philander Smith on Feb. 22.

In addition to NAIA membershp, CBC will be a member of the Association of Independent Institutions.
