Six male gymnnasts from Sonshine Academy in Conway won or placed in the top three individual events or the all-around in their age groups at the Didion’s Invitational meet last weekend at Van Buren.

In the In the Level 8, 15 to 15 year olds, Preston Dunn placed second on vault. In the Level 6, 10 to 11 year olds, Jake Fisher placed first on floor, third on pommel horse, rings, and parallel bars, and first in the all-around. Blake Hopkins, competing in the level 5, 9 year-old  division placed first on vault.  In the level 4, age 7, Andrew Hare was third on vault.  In the level 4, age 8, Keeton Williams placed first on floor, vault, and parallel bars, and Jay Krisell was third on floor.

Joshusa Farewell was fourth on vault in Level 5,age 9. Chase Birdwell, Level 4, age 7, was fourth on pommel horse. 

Other individual highlights for Sonshine Academy were:                          

The head boys team coach is Anatoly Ryndin.  He is assisted by Bubba Corbitt and Michael Stage. 

GIRLS

The Level 3-7 girls gymnastics team from Sonshine Academy earned seven all-around titles and 24 individual event titles in a meet in West Memphis.  

All-around winners were:  Level 3 – Echo Clauer, (9 years); Level 4 – Abigail Robinson (8), Emily Lively (9), and Whitley Dillon (13);  Level 5 – Keely Crass (10); Level 6 – Anna Barnard (15) Level 7 – Holly Hambuchen (18).

Individual event winners at Level 3 were Lily Douglas (5) on beam and floor; Naomi Young (7) on bars; and, Clauer on bars and beam. Level 4 event winners were Robinson on bars, beam, and floor; Lively on bars and beam; and Dillon on bars, beam and floor. 

In the Level 5 individual event competition, Abigail Robnett (8) won bars and floor; Crass won floor; and Rachel Gaffney (13) won beam.  At Level 6, Barnard placed first on vault, bars, and beam. And, at Level 7, Holly Hambuchen won vault, bars, beam, and floor.

The girls gymnastics team is coached by Scott Wright, Valerie Martin, and Amber Crockett.
