LITTLE ROCK (AP) — It may not be the white Christmas some are dreaming of, but parts of Arkansas could get some snow in the next few days.

The National Weather Service says patchy freezing drizzle or rain may fall across northern Arkansas early Friday, then transition to rain or snow later in the day. Forecasters expect the wintry precipitation to fall north of a line from Ozone to Clinton to Searcy to Augusta.

By Friday night, the precipitation is expected to change over to patchy light snow in the north, and fall as a mixture of rain and sleet or rain and snow in central Arkansas. In the south, rain will transition to a rain-snow mixture.

The weather service says snow could accumulate up to one inch in the north before ending Saturday.
