LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Another step in Little Rock’s effort to revitalize War Memorial Park is taking place.
The city said Friday that the old children’s playground is to be demolished, and the new playground will be closed during the work for safety reasons.
The site of the old playground will be converted to green space. The new play area will feature climbing areas and a spray water area.
The new play area will reopen next month during a grand opening for the renovated park.
Bond refinancing covered the $1.2 million for the park renovation. The project was begun in 2007.
The park is also home to War Memorial Stadium.
