This past day, Easter Sunday, was the perfect day to worship the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior. No, come to think of it, everyday is the perfect day to praise our Lord. He is worthy of our praise at all times, good and bad.

The Sanctuary Choir presented a mini-cantata for the service with scripture readings spaced through-out. Bro. Jameson spoke briefly before the invitation and the service ended with the last song by the choir. Services Sunday evening were dismissed for family time.

The Adult Sunday School Class met Tuesday evening for a time of food, fun, fellowship, and a great program. Bro. Clyde Spurgin, retired Baptist minister, and his wife were our special guests. Bro. Spurgin has a full time job as a Christian ventriloquist. He travels many miles each year with his little partner ministering to children, youth and adults. The program was great — even us old folks were like little children watching.

This morning is work day at the church. There are jobs for everyone, both inside and outside. If you are reading this early, breakfast will be served at 8:00 with work to follow, so come on out and pitch in.

Those who arrived for the 7:30 a.m. Easter worship service heard a wonderful message from Brother John Evans taken from Matt. 28:1-10. The focus was on the angel at the empty tomb saying to Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James to "go quickly and tell His disciples that He (Jesus) has risen from the dead." As Christians we are to tell the same good news today.

Following the early service we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, with numerous choices, prepared by Nina and Richard Johnston, Bobby Haynes, and Ronald Pearce. We send a tremendous thanks to this group of dedicated cooks!

We enjoyed visitors in both services and were thankful they joined us for this special day of worship and praise. David Garrett blessed our hearts singing "Then Came the Mornin." The emphasis of Brother John’s second message was on why the resurrection is important. He shared five points concluding with, "Because He Lives I Shall Live." His resurrection is proof of my own resurrection.

The adults will begin a new Bible study on Wednesday nights soon. Jim Johnston will continue to teach this group. Brother John continues to teach the young adults Sunday mornings at 10.

The youth group being taught by Tim Brewer is growing and we have a great group of children for Kids Own Worship on Wednesday nights. We also have children’s church on Sunday mornings lead by Delores Haynes and Dianne Cummings. We appreciate those who’ve recently signed up to help in this ministry.

VBS workers are making preparations for June 18-22. This year’s school is titled Space Quest. Music, scripture lessons, crafts, and snacks will be included in the schedule. We invite all children to attend.

Join us for worship tomorrow and receive a warm welcome, love, and hear a message from God’s Word.
