In August, several Scouts and Scouters from Boy Scout Troop 71 attended Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. These scouts hiked Philmont’s mountains, spent nights at various camps and participated in a wide array of programs presented by Philmont’s backcountry staff. This camp is one of three high-adventure camps sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America National Council.

The three camps include Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, the Northern Tier National High Adventure Program in Minnesota and Canada, and the Florida National High Adventure Sea Base in the Florida Keys. Philmont Scout Ranch is the Boy Scouts of America’s oldest national high-adventure base. It’s 34 staffed camps and 55 trail camps provide an unforgettable adventure in the high country along hundreds of miles of rugged, rocky trails.

Boy Scouts Cody Dison, Geoff Carter and Caleb Sackhoff have qualified for the Triple Crown award for participating in all three camps during their Boy Scout careers.

Boy Scout Troop 71 is chartered with First United Methodist Church of Conway. Scoutmaster is Matt Hubbard.
