Mrs. Lela Craig, supervisor of the recreation room in the basement at the courthouse, said today an increasing popularity is noted by the daily attendance of young people, especially after school hours. More room and more equipment is badly needed she said. Another ping-pong set and table are needed as this seems to be the most popular game. The room is also opened to employed people.

Dr. George T. Gray Jr. of Conway was elected district chairman of the Boy Scouts of America at a meeting last night at Tommy’s Restaurant, Andy Matthews, district executive, announced today.
The district comprises five counties, Conway, Faulkner, Perry, Cleburne and Van Buren.
Other officers for 1963 include Arlie Lorance of Morrilton and Dr. Shirl Ward of Clinton, vice chairman, and J.S. Mattingly Jr., of Conway, district commissioner.

Jeremy Elliott, 10, a student at Conway Christian Academy, smiled in delight recently at seeing his winning design printed on a safety bumper sticker. His design was selected overall winner of the Conway Pilot Club’s Safety Sticker contest. Fourth-graders in Conway elementary schools were asked to design an entry for the contest., which was held to make the public more aware of the importance of safety belt use. Jeremy received a $25 gift certificate from Longing’s SportsWorld and a free dinner from Hardee’s. Mayor David Kinley and Sheriff Bob Blankenship judged the entries. Jeremy is a son of Larry and Ellen Elliott of Mayflower.
