Ben Kordsmeier, 17 year old grandson of Helen and Emil "Doc" Kordsmeier of Conway, recently earned the Eagle Scout award in High Point, N.C.

He is a junior at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School and the son of Dr. Keith and Julie Kordsmeier of High Point, formerly of Conway.

He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 42 in High Point.

For his Eagle Scout Leadership Service project, Ben initiated a plan to provide cabinets for the Director of Christian Education at Covenant United Methodist Church in High Point, which is the sponsor church for Troop 42.

This project benefitted the program by providing storage, which will assist in the organization of the space and improve overall efficiency. First, Ben collaborated with a parishioner who is an owner of a cabinet company and the Director of Christian Education to plan and then complete fundraising to assist in the construction and installation of cabinets.

Then, four adult leaders, along with three other boy scouts, completed the task of removing old cabinets and installing new cabinetry with improved storage space. This project required approximately 60 hours of service to complete and made a much improved use of space in the facility to run Christian Education Programs in this church community.
