A large group of members assembled yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. M.J. McHenry for the meeting of the Hendrix Dames. The time was spent in conversation and at the close of the afternoon karo-nut pie with coffee was served. Co-hostesses were Miss Myrtle Charles, Mrs. C.J. Greene, Mrs. H.W. Kamp, Mrs. E.T. Wayland and Mrs. Guy A. Simmons.

Army Pvt. Charles M. Cox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil M. Cox, of Conway, recently was assigned to the 8th Infantry at Ft. Riley. Cox, a rifleman in the infantry’s Company C, entered the Army in August 1962, and was last stationed at Ft. Polk, La.

Pfc. Robert A. Kalz, son of Sandra Glinski, of Conway, departed for a six-month deployment to the western pacific with the Marine Corps’ Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
During the deployment, Kalz will make up part of the combat force and readiness of the 11th Marine Amphibious Unit, participating in various combat training exercises and visiting foreign countries.
A 1986 graduate of Conway High School, Kalz joined the Marine Corps in September 1986.

Held to two points in the preceding 39 minutes, Deidre Wyrick scored five in the final 18.4 seconds to the lift the Hendrix women to a 63-58 victory over Oglethorpe Sunday at Grove Gymnasium.
