Mrs. D.D. McBrien was hostess to the Friday Card Club for their meeting Friday at her home on Bruce Street. A delicious luncheon menu was served on prettily appointed tables at the noon hour. Games of bridge were played during the afternoon and Mrs. William M. Harton won the prize for high score.

Conway Twitty and his band will appear at the National Guard Armory tonight, playing for a dance from 7 to 11 o’clock. The group performed at the Arkansas Children’s Colony this afternoon.
Twitty plays rhythm guitar as well as sings. Other members of his band include Al Bruneau, lead guitar, and Joe Lewis, bass guitar, both of Newport, Denzil Rice, electric piano, Hamilton, Ohio, and Tommy Markham, drummer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jo Markham of Conway.
Admission to the dance tonight will be $1 per person.

Maurice Ernst Ness of Conway recently received a doctorate of philosophy in educational and counseling psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Rachel Disney, a senior at Mayflower High School, will perform at the Hula Bowl in Maui, Hawaii, on Saturday.
She will be among 292 high school cheerleaders performing in the half-time festivities of the 57th annual event. The participants are members of the Danz All-American Team chosen last summer from among thousands of nominees.
Rachel is a daughter of Gary and Kathy Disney of Mayflower. She has been a cheerleader at Mayflower for five years and has cheered with the nationally ranked River City All-Stars of Little Rock.
She also is the 2003 Mayflower salutatorian.
