Complimenting Mrs. W.E. Atkinson, teacher of the T.E.L. class of the First Baptist Sunday school, members of the class called at her home Saturday afternoon, bringing flowers and other gifts in honor of her birthday. Dainty refreshments brought by the class were served and congratulations and good wishes were extended.

Lillard L. Bolls of Conway received congratulations for 28 years of selling Lion roofing asphalt products in the south. H.H. Bible of St. Louis, vice president of Monsanto Chemical Co., offered his best wishes during the 14th annual meeting of Lion Oil’s 25-Year Club held in El Dorado. Bolls, who retired from Lion in 1959, has been retained since that time by Lion as manufacturer’s representative covering states east of the Mississippi River. Lion Oil is part of Monsanto’s Hydrocarbons Division.

Marvin Delph, a former standout at Conway High and with the Arkansas Razorbacks, won the 18-and-older division of the free-throw competition of the "Hot Shot Basketball Competitions" held Saturday at the McGee Community Center.

Runner-up to Delph was L.C. Coty, a former University of Central Arkansas player. Coty won the slam dunk contest. Paul Wade was the runner-up in the "hot shot" contest. A.C. Coates was runner-up in the dunking contest.

Stephanie Riddle Silva has opened a new beauty salon, Short Cuts, at Main and Chestnut streets, 1100 Main, Suite 7. She previously was manager of SmartStyle in Walmart. She is a graduate of Bizzell’s Beauty School in Morrilton and has been in the business about 10 years. a native of Russellville, Silva has lived in Conway four years. She has two children.
