May is Arkansas Heritage Month, a time to celebrate, discover and enjoy our wonderful Arkansas heritage. This year’s theme is Saving our Heritage: Arkansas’s Historic Structures. On Saturday, May 18, visitors to Petit Jean State Park are invited to join the park interpreters at special programs which relate to the fascinating history of the Petit Jean area, commemorate the Civil War Sesquicentennial, and introduce people to some of the park’s most enduring structures.
"Arkansas Heritage Day – Celebrating Historic Structures and Remembering the Civil War" will be a day filled with programs that highlight Petit Jean Mountain’s diverse cultural resources. Visitors are encouraged to spend a day at Petit Jean State Park in a beautiful outdoor setting, and to take advantage of free history related talks and guided strolls, including a tour of historic Mather Lodge.
This event is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, contact the park at 501-727-5441 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our website also contains detailed schedules of activities offered in the park. Visit us at www.petitjeanstatepark.com.
