The Department of Arkansas Marine Corps League will be meeting in Conway May 17 and 18 for its Annual Convention at the Hilton Gardens Inn and Suites on Amity Road, and will encompass meetings, fellowship, a Saturday ceremony at 8:30 a.m. at the Faulkner County Courthouse to honor those who have passed away this year, concluding on Saturday evening with a banquet.
The department is headed by Dwight Witcher, commandant, and will feature special guests from the National Marine Corps League and the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Honors Ceremony will be held with the assistance of a Color Guard and Honor Detail. Guest speakers will be Richard Gore, National junior vice commandant, and Col. Charles H. Johnson, III, assistant director of the Arkansas Veterans Service Office.
In addition, there will be several World War II veterans who will be honored at the banquet Saturday evening.
The Razorback young Marines Detachment will be serving the meals to the guests.
