Miss Theda Woodruff, pretty 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Woodruff, today was reigning as queen of Conway High School’s 10th annual "hi-day" celebration.
Miss Woodruff, a high school senior, emerged winner over Miss Marcelle Clark in a spirited race for queen that ended at 6 o’clock last night. She named Miss Clark, granddaughter of Mrs. George W. Clark, her maid of honor.

The Rev. Myers B. Curtis was guest speaker at the November meeting of the 20th Century Club at Tommy’s Restaurant on Friday. He discussed "A Time for Thanks," remarking that the first pilgrims were grateful for their meager possessions and never lost sight that they were part of God’s creation. Mrs. L.L. Nelms was a guest of her daughter, Mrs. Myers B. Curtis. Hostesses were Mrs. George W. Ligon and Mrs. Coy Turner.

Tracey Garrison was named 1988 Mount Vernon High School homecoming queen during ceremonies at a recent basketball game with Bigelow High School.
Miss Garrison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Garrison on Mount Vernon, is a senior. She was escorted by Jason Stiller.
Christy Loyd, a senior and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Bob Loyd, was named maid of honor. She was escorted by Michael Carter.

A worker for Blue Hill Wrecker Service walked past the damaged tanker trailer of a semi that overturned on Interstate 40 near the 127 mile marker on Monday. It took several wreckers to upright the truck, and westbound traffic on the cleanup took place. No injuries were reported in the accident.
