Step into my den, pull up a comfy chair and a cup of tea and let’s chat.

Greenbrier High School Band’s Christmas Concert is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building. Not only do these students play football games through the year and lend spirit to every pep rally and function at school, but they also march in multiple parades — even in the dark. These are awesome kids with an awesome director who are well worth going to their concert and giving a listen. You won’t be disappointed.

It’s a shame there is only one first Sunday in December every year because it is always so crowded. Joan Hanna (one of our Wooster people) is the Director of Faulkner Academy of Arts, director of Conway Women’s Chorus and also helped start Conway Dinner Theater. Many of our Greenbrier residents take part in the plays and shows given multiple times a year. They have helped raise money for Bethlehem House, Meals on Wheels and Hurricane Katrina victims, all just from their patrons coming to hear them and donating money. The Conway Women’s Chorus is presenting a Dickens Christmas with tea and scones — all for $5 on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. Contact me, or call 501-339-7401 for more information.

The EAST kids at GHS had to reschedule their balloon launch for Friday Nov. 20 at the lot next to Westside Elementary School. It looks like we will have great weather with an eastwardly wind speed of 5 m.p.h.

At 8 a.m. the students will do a mini lesson describing atmosphere, their  launch process and their hypothesis for the flight path of the balloon. The plan is to attach a camera to study the curvature of the earth and retrieve it by GPS. They will launch at 9 a.m. Here’s to gentle ascents and soft landings!

Don’t forget the Greenbrier Library will accept non-perishable food items in lieu of fines for overdue items. Donated items will be shared with local shelters and food pantries for the holidays.

Be sure to enter your float, buggy, tractor, horse, clown or event in the Lions’ Christmas parade. Find the entry forms at the high school.

‘Til next time, give me a call or drop me a line if you would like to chat……....bj
