The Faulkner County Library presents Dr. J.J. Mayo and Choose to Lose: A Healthy Lifestyle Approach to Weight Management.

Classes begin on Tuesday, July 8 and run through Aug. 12, and meet at 7 p.m.

Dr. J.J. Mayo is an accomplished wellness coach with over 15 years of experience in the health and fitness industry. He holds a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology and is a registered dietitian, credentialed by the American Dietetic Association. Author of the book "101 Weight Loss Tips," he has successfully helped clients in all walks of life lose weight and achieve their personal health goals.

Choose to Lose is designed specifically for those who are overweight and ready to make a permanent lifestyle change. Focus is on increasing physical activity, nutrition education, and behavior modification. Essential components of weight control are presented in a secure, non-threatening environment. The course will include weekly private weigh-ins, a lecture topic and group discussion. Most importantly, participants will learn strategies for successful long-term weight loss and weight maintenance. Some of the lecture topics will include:

• Exercise for Maximal Weight Loss

• Emotional Eating

• Nutrition 101

• Gaining Support

• Positive Self-Talk

• Overcoming Barriers

• The Role of Physical Activity
