WOOSTER — County Judge Jim Baker on Friday presented the Wooster Volunteer Fire Department with a Certificate of Appreciation for its recent work in achieving a Class 4 rating for the district from the Insurance Services Office (ISO).

The district previously held a Class 7 ISO rating. The new classification will take effect April 1.

Eric Duvall, Deputy Director of the Faulkner County OEM 911; Justice of the Peace Jerry Boyer; and State Rep. Stephen Meeks were also on hand for Judge Baker’s presentation to Wooster Fire Chief Clint Harper.

“The Wooster Fire Department not only has demonstrated its ability to protect the citizens of Wooster, it has also undergone the training needed to lower the ISO rating and therefore, lower insurance rates for the citizens in the district," Baker said in his presentation. "It has been a tremendous group effort that required dedication and professionalism."

Baker also announced that the Wooster Volunteer Fire Department had been named the Outstanding Fire Department of the Year for Faulkner County.
