And the restaurant news just keeps coming! As reported last week, Pizza Ranch, based in Iowa, will be opening its first Arkansas location in Conway this summer. The restaurant features a “Buffet Your Way” that includes specialty pizzas as well as fried chicken as well as sides and salads. There are also a variety of dessert pizzas.
For those who have been having pizza buffet withdrawals since Pizza Inn closed, this should fill the void nicely. Construction is underway at 950 Covington Way, across Dave Ward Drive from DeBoard Electronics and C2 Powersports.
The Atlanta-based Huddle House chain has reportedly signed a franchise agreement with Amyn and Ashraf Dayani to open a restaurant in Conway. The exact location of this new breakfast/diner is not known yet. There are four Arkansas locations; the Clinton store on Highway 65 is currently the one closest to Conway.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews restaurant officially opened Monday, February 11 but had a Sneak Preview Celebration February 7-9. Guests sampled items off the menu and assisted with the training of the restaurant’s employees. The restaurant, located at the entrance to Lewis Crossing, features gourmet burgers, towering onion rings and bottomless steak fries.
Just across the roundabouts from the new Red Robin, a new entrance was being constructed for Lewis Ranch. The roads through this new commercial development should be open soon.
The old Economy Inn on the northwest corner of Oak and Museum Roads was razed last week. A new Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburger is scheduled to open at that location later this year.
A call last week to Burge’s Hickory Smoked Turkeys and Hams revealed that they are shooting for an April opening for their new Conway location next to Acxiom.
Sawbuck’s owner Randy Day recently announced on Facebook that the Sawbuck’s in Greenbrier would not be renewing its lease. The restaurant, which opened two years ago, was extremely busy but business had fallen off in the past several months.
Day said, “At the end of the day we did not perform consistently with our food quality or our service and for that I apologize and won’t offer excuses. We appreciate the opportunity to serve Greenbrier and thank our friends and supporters.” The restaurant closed January 31.
When questioned, Day said that the Conway store on Dave Ward Drive would remain open and that they were “working hard to fix our issues there as well. They are doing a great job.”
The Dive restaurant on Oak Street was noticeably quiet and absent of cars but there were no signs on the doors that indicated a problem. Calls this week to the number listed for the restaurant got a recording saying that it was no longer a working number.

ERA TEAM Real Estate will have a ribbon cutting at its new location, 1120 Hogan Lane, on Thursday, February 15 at 10 a.m. Pam McDowell Properties has been combined with Mark and Tracy Tidwell’s ERA TEAM Real Estate to create an agency that has a combined 30-plus employees and agents.
Salter Properties broke ground on JLoft Apartments on Spencer Street in downtown Conway last month and the foundation was poured this past week. With a parking garage on the ground floor, there will be three stories of apartments above.
Salter Properties is also pre-leasing the old Conway Block Plant, located downtown on south Front Street which is being renovated into two levels of office suites. There are common areas on each floor and two outdoor rooftop patios.
