On gun laws:
Las Vegas, Sutherland Springs, Parkland—over the past few months our elected officials continue only send their thoughts & prayers to our killed and injured.
On an average day, 96 Americans are killed with guns, and yet legislators stand paralyzed to prevent these deaths from gun violence.
After the school shooting in Parkland, Florida that killed 17 people I am extremely frustrated with our lawmakers’ inaction. To add to it, the Arkansas Legislature has made our situation less safe with guns on campus, guns allowed in dorm rooms, guns allowed at kids’ sports camps on campus, and guns in bedrooms at the CHDC.
I am ready for a change. I joined Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, and I have met so many Faulkner County residents who are ready to save lives.
We have handed out gun locks at community events, held forums about our current gun laws and preventing child access to firearms, coordinated calls and letters against guns on campus, and held vigils to remember the dead while we recommit to common sense gun legislation.
I am also inspired by the voices of our children and young adults who demand our legislators stand up to the NRA. You can text the word “READY” to the number 644-33, and we’ll take action together.
