From Conway Police Department reports
Stuck in the mud
A 28-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of public intoxication after officers found him stuck in someone's driveway.
According to the incident report, a Conway officer was patrolling Prince Street around 3 a.m. when he first noticed the suspect's vehicle sitting in front of a residence with the driver's door open. The second time the officer passed the residence, the driver's door was shut, but sitting in the same spot.
The officer drove up to the vehicle in question for further investigation when he and another officer found the vehicle was stuck in the mud.
According to the report, it looked as if the driver had crashed into the neighboring residence's yard before skidding to his current spot. While the windows on the suspect vehicle were tinted, officers said they could see a cell phone screen lit up inside the vehicle.
The person inside the vehicle did not respond to the officers knocking on the windows, so they instead opened the doors to check on the driver who was sitting inside the vehicle.
"I asked him what was going on and if he needed help," one officer wrote in his report. "The occupant, a black male, turned to me and said he was talking to his brother to help him. I could smell the odor of intoxicants on his person ... [and] asked him to exit the vehicle."
The 28-year-old suspect was "shirtless, covered in mud, and had slurred speech," according to the report.
Officers also noted finding an empty Crown Royal whiskey bottle inside the vehicle and arrested the suspect on suspicion of public intoxication since it was unknown how long it had been since he was in control of the vehicle.
The suspect was also charged with criminal mischief because of the extent of damages to the yard he was found in.
According to the incident report, the suspect "became very belligerent" on the way to the county jail.
The suspect said he did not understand why he was being charged with a DWI and said he'd hydroplaned into the victim's yard. The officer said he told the suspect he was not being charged with a DWI but refused to argue back with him after the suspect began insulting him.
Friday night incident
Authorities were called out to an incident late Friday regarding a woman who was running half-naked down the street and screaming that she had been raped.
The man who called Conway police said he and the woman were "messing around" at his house but that when he said "You're crazy" as the two were becoming intimate, "she ran outside without pants on saying rape."
As officers were headed to the First Avenue residence, they were met by the woman in question, who was running down Vine Street with no pants or underwear at 11 p.m. Friday.
According to the incident report, when the first officer asked the woman to come talk to him, she ran "approximately feet away before starting to scream about the devil."
Because he was having a difficulty speaking with and getting information from the woman, the officer said he decided to place her in handcuffs and detain her to obtain more information from her. The woman refused to give the officer any identifying information about herself but did say she'd been drinking "quite a bit" and that she had been with the man who called authorities about the situation since 7 p.m.
The woman was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she also refused to provide hospital staff with any identifying information.
"Throughout the entire encounter, the female was extremely verbally combative and uncooperative," one officer wrote in his report. "I am reporting this incident in the event that her identity is soon discovered and other details regarding the situation are revealed."
