Sheriff's office investigators have extracted data off an Instagram account believed to contain evidence in an internet stalking of a child and possible child pornography case.
Online records show the affidavit requesting the search warrant was filed in January and that data was extracted in February. Search warrant documents pertaining to the case were filed online Thursday.
According to the affidavit, a Faulkner County woman went to the sheriff's office to report that an unknown person contacted her 11-year-old son through Instagram and sent inappropriate messages. Throughout the conversation between the unknown individual and her son, the Instagram user convinced her son to send over exposed photos of himself.
Spokesman Adam Bledsoe said the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office follows up on all cases such as this to bring justice to those affected.
"The Faulkner County Sheriff's Office is committed to combating crimes against children, violent crimes, crimes against people in general and property crimes," he said Friday. "We will remain professional in our investigation and see to it that we follow up and bring justice to the offender."
The woman said her son first received a direct message on Instagram by user jac573 at 3:35 p.m. Dec. 24. The second time the user behind jac573 messaged her son — 11:08 a.m. Dec. 30 — is when the user started seeking personal information about the woman's son.
During the second conversation, the unknown Instagram user asked the 11-year-old boy how old he was and asks for a photo. The unknown person then asked the young boy if he wanted to see him nude and the boy replied, "Sure why not."
The user behind jac573 then began asking the young boy sexual questions regarding self gratification.
During a Jan. 3 conversation, the Instagram user asks the boy about what clothes he's wearing and tells the boy, "You're probably cuter [without your shirt]." The unknown individual asks the boy if he would like him to send a photo of his exposed penis.
"Don't care," the boy said in return.
The boy said he would not perform oral sex on the unknown user when asked but asked in return if the unknown user would perform oral sex on him instead.
"Oh yes ... would you let me," the user replied.
Throughout the conversation, the unknown Instagram user convinces the 11-year-old boy to send photos and videos of himself and attempts to make the young boy more comfortable with the subject matter of the conversations.
At one point, the Instagram user asks the boy to send another video of him touching himself but the boy declined.
"I have had enough penis," the young boy said.
On Jan. 5, the Instagram user asks the underage boy if he wants to meet up. The boy did not respond to this message. According to the affidavit, the boy's mother discovered the message thread around 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7 and went to the sheriff's office the next day to report the situation.
An investigator requested the search warrant to be able to get in touch with Instagram's Law Enforcement Response Team to determine any identifying information of the user behind user jac573.
As of press time Friday, no arrests had been made in this case.
