Community members will soon have the opportunity to move to downtown Conway.

The development of the new JLofts residential space — located at the corner of Spencer and Smith streets — began December 2017, according to Salter Properties Inc. Marketing Coordinator Nicole Rigby, and is currently on schedule to be finished late summer 2018, early fall.

The four-story addition to downtown Conway was announced at the Conway Downtown Partnership’s annual meeting October 2017.

The building is set to have parking on the ground floor and three levels of 21 one- and two- bedroom units.

Rigby said they’ve already had people call and ask about the property and said, as they get closer to completion, Salter Properties will narrow down exact pricing for potential tenants.

While there’s some living spaces in downtown Conway, she said, the new space adds to that. Rigby said with the location and parking underneath, they are expecting the development to be a success.

During the previously mentioned Conway Downtown Partnership meeting last year, Brad Lacy, president of the Conway Development Corporation, alluded to a survey they did a few years ago, specifically aimed toward young professionals.

“Of the several hundred people that responded to that survey, more than 50 percent said that if it were available, their preference would be to live in downtown Conway,” Lacy said. “To you guys, thank you for investing in downtown residential.”

Salter Properties Inc. website stated that JLofts Downtown will be an apartment community.

“Located behind Kings Live Music, JLofts will offer a new sense of community to the area," the company website reads.
