Wefus K. Tyus, Jr. a small business owner in Twin Groves, announces his candidacy for the 2018 Democratic nomination of Justice of the Peace in District 1.
Tyus and his wife have four children, a daughter and three sons, along with four granddaughters.
"It is an honor and a privilege to be considered to fill this position with the support of some of the upmost respected peers in the community," Tyus said in a statement. "If elected, I will be committed to be an attentive, fair and unbiased Justice of the Peace that is accessible to the public as well as remain the concerned true servant leader I have always been.
"I will continue to use my leadership skills and budgeting experience from serving on the Guy-Perkins school board as vice president, Chairman of the Deacon Board at Zion Grove MBC, Superintendent of a SWN construction company and current owner of Ty-D Construction.
"The challenges facing the Quorum Court include the wise and responsible use of the taxpayer’s money and, more recently, the funding and operation of the County’s proposed animal shelter.
"I shall support Judge Baker’s efforts to rebuild bridges, improve drainage and seal the County’s roads with asphalt to replace the chip-seal surfaces."
Tyus said: "Infrastructure improvements and public safety are the highest rank for District 1.
"I have lived in District 1 my entire life and look forward to the opportunity to be an advocate and a voice that translates concerns of the District to the Quorum Court."
