Another man suspected in the May 8 shooting death of a Wisconsin man was arrested late Wednesday night while trying to cross the border into Mexico.
Conway Police Department spokesman LaTresha Woodruff said that the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 22-year-old Andrew Morstain of Texas with help from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection around 11 p.m. Wednesday at the Laredo, Texas, border crossing station.
Morstain faces capital murder charges in the May 8 shooting death of 48-year-old Leonel Panduro of Whitewater, Wisconsin, who was found shot to death in room 106 at the Days Inn hotel on Oak Street.
Morstain's border arrest falls three days after his co-defendant was arrested while also attempting to cross the border.
Zachary Keesee, 24, was picked up late Sunday night at the Eagle Pass, Texas border crossing station. Keese faces conspiracy to commit murder charges in Panduro's death.
Morstain and Keese will both be extradited back to Arkansas.
Authorities were first alerted of the shooting around 6 a.m. on the day in question, where they were met by a trail of blood that continued from room 106 to the middle of the parking lot near the hotel’s main entrance along Oak Grove Drive.
Keesee’s mother, 50-year-old Sherri Keesee, was arrested last week on suspicion of hindering the apprehension or prosecution of her son.
Details regarding Sherri’s charge have not yet been released pending the investigation of this case, Woodruff said.
Woodruff said authorities encourage anyone with information regarding this case to come forward.
“If you have information [regarding this case] please call Detective Andrew Johnson, who can be reached at 501-450-6130,” she said.
