After a 13-hour meeting by the board of trustees of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the members voted to remove president Paige Patterson after an outpouring of criticism. Patterson was asked to step down after making critical statements about women and recent reports he asked a woman to not report a rape. More than 3,200 Southern Baptist women signed an online letter asking for the removal of Patterson after a tape from 2000 surfaced in which Patterson said he doesn’t advise divorce for abused women. The board voted to make Patterson president emeritus with compensation.

According to a new study conducted by the Pew Research Center, one-in-four parents living with a child in the U.S. are unmarried. Compared to just 7 percent in 1968, today 25 percent of parents living with child are unmarried.
