The Conway Optimist Club selected two Vilonia students as its Teens of the Month, Megan Atkins and Chase Lewis.

Megan Atkins is the daughter of Brian and Terina Atkins.

She is a recent graduate at Vilonia High School where she was the president of CREW, secretary for BETA Club, secretary and senior representative for student council and secretary for DECA.

Atkins was also involved with the Spanish Club, drama club, forensics and debate team and FCA club.

The 18-year-old attends Friendship Baptist Church where she is involved with the youth program, pre-kindergarten and various kids camps.

She also serves as a volunteer with Angela’s Pillowcase Project, the VIP Youth Volleyball Program, Vilonia Checkout Closet and other community projects with Vilonia’s Student Leadership Team.

When selected, Atkin’s GPA was 4.44. She graduated in May and plans to attend Arkansas State University with hopes to major in business in marketing.

“I’m so thankful to be chosen for this honor,” she said. “Thank you. I can, so I do. Involvement is key.”

Lewis is the son of Larry and Crissy Lewis.

The 18-year-old is a recent Vilonia High School graduate where he was member-at-large for the student leadership team, member of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), 2018 class secretary and member of the BETA Club.

Lewis attends Friendship Baptist Church and is involved with the youth ministry, where he leads a bible study on Wednesday nights.

He serves as a volunteer for the Vilonia Youth Football Association and the Central Arkansas Pee Wee Basketball Association.

Lewis also served as the student assistant to the athletic director in the Vilonia School District.

Upon selection, Lewis’s GPA was 4.0. He graduated in May with plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas in the fall to major in business administration.
